Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions, straight answers

General

Yes. Wooded Mountain Builders is a licensed general contractor serving Asheville and communities throughout Western North Carolina.

We serve Asheville, Black Mountain, Weaverville, Burnsville, Waynesville, Marshall, Mars Hill, Candler, Woodfin, Arden, Fletcher, Swannanoa, Hendersonville, and surrounding areas of Western North Carolina.

Land & New Construction

The process starts with a phone consultation to discuss the property and your plans. From there, we schedule an in-person site visit to evaluate the land and talk through the next steps.

Yes. We offer free land feasibility evaluations for properties you are considering buying or building on. In most cases, we can tell you on the spot whether the property appears buildable, although utility questions may take a few extra days to confirm.

We evaluate slope, access and driveway feasibility, septic and well suitability, and tree coverage. These conditions are especially important when considering mountain property in Asheville and Western North Carolina.

No. Wooded Mountain Builders coordinates permitting, engineers, surveyors, and inspections directly. You do not need to manage separate consultants or agencies on your own.

Once financing is in place, permitting typically takes only a few weeks. The exact process can vary depending on the property and the requirements involved.

Clients receive day-to-day project updates through a private client portal. We also provide weekly progress reports so you have a clear view of completed work and what is coming next.

Renovations

We work to contain dust and construction mess, keep communication clear, and maintain as much of the home's normal function as possible. When the space allows, we also set up a temporary kitchen during the remodel.

A temporary bathroom setup typically is not possible, so we focus on moving the work forward efficiently and keeping you informed throughout the project. We also work to contain dust and protect the areas of the home that remain in use.

We handle both. Our renovation experience ranges from individual kitchen or bathroom remodels to complete whole-home renovations, including full-scale projects like restoring a 120-year-old farmhouse in Asheville.

Older homes often reveal unexpected conditions once walls, floors, or ceilings are opened. When that happens, we deal with it promptly and keep you informed through our client portal, so you always have accurate, up-to-date information.

For Investors

Yes. We partner with real estate investors on spec-home and build-to-rent projects in Asheville and across Western North Carolina. We manage the construction process directly and provide consistent project communication.

No. We work with investors who already own a property as well as those looking for new opportunities. We can help source potential projects before construction even begins.

Both. In many cases, we help structure the investment deal before transitioning into full construction management, not just building once a deal is already finalized.

Yes. In addition to build-to-rent and spec home projects, we work with investors on fix-and-flip projects as well.
